Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between PlasDECK® and natural teak?

You can find more information on this topic here.

Where is PlasDECK® produced?

The material is produced in the USA, in Akron, the world capital of plastics, in the state of Ohio, and then delivered to Europe.

What is PlasDECK® made of?

PlasDECK® is made from specially processed, multi-patented elastic PVC. This durable material contains non-migrating plasticizers, the highest UV protection, and mold inhibitors that ensure the flawless appearance of PlasDECK® over a long period of time. PlasDECK® does not contain wood or cork in its structure, which could cause the material to rot over time.

Will PlasDECK® fade or change color over time?

PlasDECK® is equipped with the best UV protection technology on the market, the same used to protect plastic parts in cars made by top automobile manufacturers. The material is protected from UV radiation throughout its entire thickness, ensuring that the protection does not diminish over time. PlasDECK® will retain its fresh teak wood appearance for many years. We invite you to review the results of studies conducted on the durability of PlasDECK® when exposed to atmospheric factors.

Is PlasDECK® durable?

Yes! PlasDECK® is designed to be extremely flexible and resistant to deformation. Even heavy foot traffic on the deck with shoes will not be a challenge!

Will there be traces left after repairs?

No! Unlike competing products available on the market, the repaired areas are not discolored and blend perfectly with the rest of the deck.

Can damaged PlasDECK® be repaired?

Of course. Any damage caused by improper use of PlasDECK® can be repaired. No problem! Contact us and send us pictures to get more information!

Are there substances to which PlasDECK® is particularly sensitive?

Yes! PlasDECK® should be protected from acetone. In case of contamination with one of these substances, the surface should be thoroughly wiped down.

Is wet PlasDECK® slippery?

No! PlasDECK® has a perfect anti-slip surface that offers better traction than natural teak decks.

Does PlasDECK® heat up?

The maximum temperature that PlasDECK® reaches under full sunlight is 8 to 16 degrees lower than that of natural teak, depending on the chosen color. In fact, the material heats up even less when lighter shades are selected. Additionally, PlasDECK® reaches its maximum temperature much more slowly than real teak and returns to ambient temperature within a few minutes.

How does PlasDECK® compare to competing synthetic teak decks?

Still excellent! Thanks to its unique, patented formula, PlasDECK® reaches a temperature up to 5 degrees lower than competing products in the same color. On very hot, sunny days, this seemingly small difference provides greater comfort.

How thick is PlasDECK®?

The thickness of PlasDECK® Classic-Series is approximately 4.5 mm, ECO-Series is around 3.8 mm, and Performance3.5 is about 2.8 mm.

How much does PlasDECK® weigh?

PlasDECK® Classic-Series weighs approximately 5.9 kg per m², whereas PlasDECK® Performance weighs 3.5 kg per m².

Is PlasDECK® available in different colors?

Yes. PlasDECK® offers the largest selection of colors on the market! You can choose from nearly 30 different color combinations with various deck seams. For larger orders, you can select any color outside the standard palette.

How are the panels developed for individual orders?

Orders are fulfilled based on templates provided by the customer or taken by our team. You can either commission us to install the deck, or we will send it to you for self-installation. The choice is, of course, yours.

How is PlasDECK® adhered to the deck?

For the installation of PlasDECK®, we use a specially developed, two-component polyurethane adhesive. This adhesive is applied gradually to the deck and evenly distributed. Then, PlasDECK® is placed in the desired location and rolled out with a roller. Installation is done using a vacuum pump that applies pressure of approximately 8 tons per square meter. The second option is VHB (Very High Bond) double-sided adhesive tape, which is pre-applied to the underside of the deck. This solution has a very high efficiency, significantly reduces installation time, and simplifies the overall installation procedure.

On what surfaces can PlasDECK® be installed?

PlasDECK® can be installed on wood, fiberglass, steel, aluminum, and epoxies.

Is there a warranty for PlasDECK®?

Yes. PlasDECK® comes with a 5-year warranty for all product properties and for installation (with the "turnkey" service).

Can you install PlasDECK® on your boat by yourself?

Of course. If you feel confident, we are happy to advise you. We will gladly send you a detailed installation guide and everything you need to successfully install the deck.

Do you need to sand down the anti-slip surface on your boat before installing PlasDECK®?

Before installing PlasDECK®, we recommend at least filing down the anti-slip surface. This will create a better adhesion bridge.

Can the logo or name of the boat be placed on the panels?

Certainly! We have a CNC machine that can engrave custom inscriptions, logos, boat names, and boat brands. The possibilities are almost limitless. Contact us to discuss the details of your project idea.

Should the installed PlasDECK® be sealed with oil or varnish?

No! PlasDECK® is a product that requires no costly or time-consuming maintenance. With PlasDECK®, you'll have more time to enjoy carefree moments on your boat.

How should you care for PlasDECK® after installation?
